Sustainably sourced, these shrimp are 100% wild-caught in the ice cold, pure waters of the Southern Atlantic Ocean off the southern Patagonian Coast of Argentina. They are responsibly harvested from one of the world's healthiest fisheries, where fishing is prohibited during spawning months. The fish are caught using a mid-water trawling technique that has very little impact on the surrounding environment. Upon being landed, the shrimp are immediately frozen at sea in the original, whole head-on form in which they were caught. For the whole frozen shrimp products, the product remains frozen and unprocessed all they way through the supply chain, ensuring a consistent, premium quality product. For the tails-only and peeled and deveined product, they carefully process the shrimp on land under strict supervision where the shrimp are packaged IQF or bulk frozen. Wild Caught Argentinian Red Shrimp are big and beautiful with a unique natural tinted red hue. They are fresh, tender, sweet and robust. People say that the texture and flavor is like lobster! Argentinian Red Shrimp are different when you cook them too – they are naturally red when they are raw and they cook in half the time of more common shrimp. SOME COOKING SUGGESTIONS:
SAUTÉ
Heat butter or oil in a skillet. Add thawed shrimp, desired seasonings, garlic, herbs and/or vegetables, then sauté for approximately 1 - 2 1/2 minutes. If using lemon juice, wine or sauce, add during the last minute of cooking.
GRILL/BBQ
Season or marinate thawed shrimp as desired. Then place shrimp on a hot grill for approximately 2 -3 1/2 minutes. Turn shrimp over halfway through cooking time.
BOIL
Place frozen shrimp into boiling water and simmer for approximately 2-3 1/2 minutes (if they float, they are done). If serving chilled, immediately submerge shrimp into a bowl of ice for 2 minutes to stop the cooking process. Drain for 2 minutes before serving.
